Richard Brown teaches English at San Ysidro High School just south of San Diego, CA. and one of the lowest socioeconomic areas in the United States. The young woman who nominated Mr. Brown said, “I was impressed by his intelligence and how much he loved what he was teaching. He brought literature alive in the classroom. Listening to him was riveting….we never wanted to leave his class each day. He made learning fun and was able to relate the material and the assignments to our lives. What I learned in his classes has made my university experience so much easier. Because of his guidance and expectations, I am going to be the first person ever in my family to graduate from college. I owe it all to him.”
