Do you remember having one teacher who saw something in you that you didn’t yet see in yourself? This is your chance to thank them.

Each year, Above & Beyond honors five outstanding California public high school educators whose care and commitment to teaching has transformed the lives of their students. These are the teachers who nurture the uniqueness of their students, who encourage them to work hard and show them what they’re capable of, and who open their classrooms early and stay late—to listen, connect, and care.

We’re asking YOU (former public high school students) to nominate an extraordinary teacher who helped shape who you are…and maybe even changed your life.

From dozens of nominations, five are chosen as Above & Beyond Honorees, each receiving a $10,000 personal award and $2,000 for their schools.

The awards are presented at our annual November banquet, where families, colleagues, and past award winners gather to celebrate and honor these incredible educators. The initial nominating student joins as a surprise guest—the teacher learns who nominated them only when that student steps on stage to share how their teacher changed their life. It’s one of the most inspiring and moving nights to witness, and we hope you’ll consider becoming a part of it!
